About you and your new job
At BRYTER we conduct one of the largest legal AI research projects in Europe and are looking for a Data Scientist who joins our AI team. In this position you have access to a large, unique dataset of legal knowledge from various leading web platforms. Together with Steffen and his teammates you will develop a conversational AI for legal knowledge. Besides that, you will work on BRYTER’s AI strategy and contribute to our core product helping us to become the leading platform for decision automation.
As Data Scientist at BRYTER you should have several years of experience in machine learning. Ideally you have a more specific knowledge of modern Deep Learning approaches to NLP and have worked on at least one NLU project in the past. We value if you hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. But the thing that matters most is your passion and engagement for data science in general. If you’re a self-taught data scientist, don’t hesitate to contact us as this is the best proof for your love of data.
You should have experience in writing machine learning programs in one of the major languages for that purpose (e.g. Python) and ideally have written programs to be used as services in a production environment. Furthermore, you should have a very good understanding of common software development best practices and be able to develop and maintain own software.
“Hi, my name is Steffen and I am a Data Scientist at BRYTER. I studied Mathematics and have a Master of Economics. After university I pursuit my love for data and joined a ridesharing startup where I soon became Head of Business Intelligence & Analytics. I joined BRYTER in 2018 and lead the work on all internal AI research projects. My overall work experience in machine learning is 4 years, which should be matched by you so we can discuss topics on the same level of understanding. I only have theoretical knowledge in NLU and NLP, so it would be amazing if you have some more practical experience than me. I am good at writing Python, but I never studied Computer Science. Therefore, I am looking for a teammate with a more extensive understanding of software development in general.”
How to get hired
At BRYTER we run a so-called “team-hires-team” process. You will be interviewed by your potential future teammates of the Product Team. The decision of your employment will be solely made by your teammates and not by any manager. To be as transparent as possible, we will rate you in the following three criteria:
- Value-fit: You should embrace our value of continuous improvement.Feel free to have a look into our company handbook to get a better understanding of what that means for us.
- Tech: As a team we thrive to become better everyday. Therefore, we made it our goal to hire people who can teach us new things in at least one discipline. In your position this means you should be able to help Steffen grow in his software development skills. Also, your knowledge in machine-learning should be equally good as Steffen’s. We will figure this out together in a dedicated tech interview.
- Diversity: We do not hire for culture-fit,instead we believe in the value of diversity. To think outside the box we need teammates that have different backgrounds and work experiences as we have right now. Diversity helps us to improve and achieve great things together.
